Nature Based Therapy in Calgary
Walk & Talks
What is Nature Based Counselling?
Have you ever felt like sitting in an office isn’t your path to healing, or that you think and feel more clearly when you’re moving or outdoors? Nature-based counselling recognizes that healing doesn’t happen only through talking or within four walls—it happens in relationship, including our relationship with the world around us. This approach gently weaves the natural environment into the therapeutic process, using elements like movement, sensory awareness, and metaphor to support emotional regulation and deeper self-connection.
Being outside can help the nervous system settle, create space for reflection, and make difficult conversations feel more accessible. Nature-based counselling isn’t about doing therapy a certain way, but about meeting you where you are and allowing the environment to support the work we’re already doing together.
Gentle Nervous System Regulation
Walking side-by-side and being outdoors can help the body settle more naturally, making it easier to access calm, clarity, and emotional regulation without feeling “put on the spot.”
Benefits of Walk & Talks
Easier Conversations and Emotional Flow
Many people find it less intense to talk while moving rather than sitting face-to-face. The rhythm of walking can support openness, reflection, and processing at your own pace.
A Sense of Space and Perspective
Nature often offers a feeling of spaciousness that can make heavy topics feel more manageable and help create distance from looping thoughts or overwhelm.
Support for Embodiment and Presence
Walk & Talks gently reconnect you to your body through movement, breath, and sensory awareness—supporting insight that isn’t just intellectual, but felt.
Meeting You Where You Feel Most at Ease
Walk & Talk sessions aren’t about pushing comfort zones—they’re about finding the environment where you feel most grounded, supported, and able to show up as yourself.
